Vertical City, Bauhaus Architecture Poster

Look long enough and the abstraction starts to resemble something. A staircase, a terrace, a tall window, an awning casting its shadow diagonally. This composition borrows its method from 1920s studio plates, where a building was broken down into colored planes to understand how its volumes fit together. The result is neither quite a plan nor quite a painting. It is a building unfolded.

The palette is wider than the usual primary trio. Alongside saffron yellow, vermilion red and royal blue come teal, fir green and midnight blue, which give the whole depth and avoid the classroom-poster effect. Long beige shadows set up the low light of late afternoon. And in this construction site of shapes, two tiny details change everything: two red flowers on their stems, and a stylized black grove in the bottom right corner. Life finds its way into the geometry.

That is exactly where Menivora likes to stand, between architecture and nature. A building never stands on nothing. A built form only makes sense within what surrounds it. This poster says so without a word, by letting two flowers stand up to a hundred rectangles.

Where to hang it. This is a dense piece, best treated as a focal point. At 70x100 cm on a clear white wall, it structures a living room or a large study on its own. At 50x70 cm, it works above a console or a low bookcase. Avoid mixing it with other busy visuals: it is at its best alone, or surrounded by very understated pieces. A black frame contains its energy; a light wood frame extends the beige background and softens the whole.
